Birthday Give Away ....Winner

Firstly, I apologise for being late with this. I got a bit carried away over the weekend, looking through hundreds of old photographs and to be totally honest, forgot to announce the winner..

Thank you to everyone that entered, I can't believe how close some of you got.

But the only one that got the correct answer was.................................................................... Alison from Bliss Miniatures. She was correct in saying that I made 134 cakes...
Many Congratulations Alison, please contact me with your full postal address and I'll get your gift in the post...xxx

Have You Entered My Birthday Give Away?

Just a quick question, have you all entered the Birthday Give away?
You have until the end of the day, GMT on 21st January, to enter and leave your answer to the question here.. I will be announcing the winner on the 22nd January 2011.
So far no one has got the answer Spot on! Some of you are so close. Now if no one guesses the correct answer. I will use the number either side and put those numbers in the hat...

Good Luck Everyone... xxxx

Birthday Give Away..

Its a bit of a tradition now, that I have a Birthday Give away.
Well this year is no different. Although its a bit late.
Because its a Birthday Give Away, its a surprise as to what's in the box!
Last year it was a Bone China Bathroom Set, made by Robert Mack of Mack Fine China. Which was won by the lovely Doreen.
The year before it was a Reutter Gold Plated Porcelain Tea Set, that was won by Casey, although Tessie nabbed it.

Now the rules are:-

1. That you must be a follower of this blog, either on the blogger followers list or the networked blog list and your answer must be placed in the comments on this post only..

2. The question I'd like answering is:- I did some Baking on the 11th January. (See this post). I filled seven tins with cakes, but some didn't make it into the tins. ( I have a Hubby and Son that like cakes straight from the oven). How many individual cakes did I make? All the correct answers will go in the hat.

You have until 21st January to enter... Good Luck everyone...

Birthday Presents...

Well I know you've all been waiting, to see what I got in those presents. I was such a good girl and left them alone, else the temptation would have been too great to rip a little hole in the wrapping..
Ben & Harry, brought me the Flower Pot Cottage Kit, from Petite Properties Ltd. Which I wasn't allowed to open until Harry got in from School at 4pm this evening! I've had my eye on one of these kits for ages, and I'm glad to say my Boys do listen to their Mum. Really looking forward to putting this together.
I also got the Harry Potter Film Wizardry Book, which has already been written about by Kate & Michelle. I have to say its a brilliant book full of details that maybe we've all missed in the films. I Love it.
In the presents that Mick got me, were the Dragonology and Monsterology books that I wanted. To see the whole range of Ology books, just click on Ology to go to their site. They are very similar to the Harry Potter book, and are filled with lots of information and pull out bits and envelopes to open.
In the other parcel, Mick had stacked three DVDs, that's why the shape had thrown me. I'm a bit of a Steven Seagal fan and have all his films, these are new ones to add to the collection. I also got some clothes.
Mick's parents sent me some money to treat myself with.
My friend Tasha, came round for Lunch and we did eat a few cakes, but I sent her home with a tin full for her Boys. (That's if she didn't eat any on the way home).
Thank you to everyone that sent Cards, emails and left messages on my previous post and the hundreds of posts on my Facebook. I really appreciate them..
And a very special Thank you to the Miniature Witches, you made me cry with laughter today. You know who you all are, all I'll say is, I hope Johnny's not to exhausted and that there is some of that Rum left...Hic xxxxx

Birthday And A Little Mouse...

Debie and her family, have been staying with us since Saturday. Ben also came home from Uni at the weekend, to help celebrate Harry's 15th Birthday and to see Courtney. Harry had a really good Birthday and got some lovely presents and quite a bit of money, and he had Megan here, so he was very happy. We had a really good few days together and Debie entertained us all last night on the Karaoke, lets just say a few Tia Maria's helped with Dutch courage..LOL Debie, left this afternoon and has rung to say she reached home safely.
Now to the little Mouse. I've been meaning to show you all this, for a while. As you know from my previous posts, I've purchased some lovely Owls from Julie.
Well, while looking in her Etsy Shop, I came across this wonderful little Mouse and I have to say fell in Love with him, straight away.
I've told Julie, her photographs just don't do her work justice. When I unwrapped this little one, it was one of those OMG moments. It is so tiny and so exquisite. I photographed him next to one of Nikki's, Pumpkin Bottles, so you could get some idea of just how tiny he is. I Love him...
Now I may not be around again for a few days, as I am going into Hospital tomorrow for a double Angiogram. We are hoping, that they will find out, what is causing all the water retention and swelling. I may be able to come home tomorrow, but depending on what they find, may have to stay in.
So if I'm not around, I hope you all have a Haunting Halloween... xxxx

Orange Sunset...

Thought I'd share these pictures that Mick took last night out on the Veranda of the Orange Sunset.
These photographs have not been photo shopped or enhanced in anyway. What you see is what we saw. If you click on the pictures they will pop up bigger.
Great colour for October the Halloween month..

Happy Birthday Dad.. Love and Miss You xxxx

Happy Birthday Ben....

Today is Ben's 19TH Birthday. Happy Birthday Ben, we Love you loads...xxxx
Courtney, Ben's Girlfriend and the Daughter of Debie, came down yesterday by train to spend a long weekend. (I spoke to Debie last night, and she's having problems with her internet again, just in case any of you were wondering where she's gone).
This morning Ben got up to the stack of crates, that we have been filling for him to take to University. The bottom crate is filled with his books for Psychology, (we haven't had the book list for Criminology yet!) pad's, pens, hole punch, stapler, highlighters, post-its, folders etc. The next one up has got a huge tub of Vitamin C in it, enough Lynx body wash and soap to see him through the first academic year, First Aid kit, paracetamol, plasters, shaving cream, Carving Knives, Chopping Boards, etc.
The top crate has lots of Kitchen gadgets, glasses, Mugs, a set of Frying Pans, Cocktail Shaker (which is apparently a must have!!!), rails that fit over the radiator in his room to air his clothes and other little bits & pieces. The first box on top of the crate, contains a dinner service, the next box contains a desk fan, then on top of that is a lap tray and a hanging rail thingy, that you can hang little bits of washing on to dry..
I also filled a posh Red present box with The Marvel Encyclopedia, a Marvel T-Shirt, a set of cookery books, the Hocus Pocus DVD, Shaver, a Men's Grooming Set, a tiny Teddy Bear, and some wooden spoons and cooking utensils. I've also brought him new sheets and covers, as the bed at Uni is only a single and he has a double bed here.
His Nan and Grandad gave him a cheque and also brought him a lovely set of Saucepans from Marks and Spencers, a new quilt and pillows.
Tonight Ben has a few of his friends coming over to celebrate with him and I think there is going to be a mass camp out.....

Happy Birthday Nikki....

Just a quick post to wish my Dear Friend Nikki, from over on Witch and Wizard Miniatures a very Happy Birthday today.
Hope you have lovely day Nikki, Love from All Of Us..xxxx

(Sorry Nikki, but I couldn't resit borrowing your Cat picture)....LOL

I'd also like to wish Callum a very Happy Birthday today. Hope you get lots of pressies..xxxx

Nikki's Gifts... (Part One)

I love getting parcels from Nikki and this is my Belated Birthday Present.
My Boys like to be there when I unwrap the box. Ben likens it to a Lucky Dip, you never what your going to find. It's all very exciting.
Now this was a big parcel, so I've split the post in to two lots.
This is the first part.
The First Picture shows some Scrolls, a teeny tiny basket, two pairs of very cute little glasses, a lovely Pot of Toadstools and two pots with saucers.
Second Picture two bags of Earth and Moss and a set of lovely hinges. The Hinges, I intend to use on the Witches Hat Shop. I will get round to building it, its all in the planning stages.
Next we have some glass, I've already got a couple of ideas for these.
Then there are some Eggs, tiny Buttons, some printies and a couple of platters. I've been looking at the shape of them today and again I've got some ideas for them as well.
In the last Picture, Nikki has made me a Mandrake sack with a resident rat sticking his head out.
Wait till you see the rest of the contents of the parcel..

Nikki, will be listing some wonderful creations on Etsy this evening. For a sneak peek pop over to her blog and have a look.

Birthday Buy Is On The Wall...

This evening when the boys got in from School, they helped Mick get my Dresser top up on the wall. I didn't realise quite how heavy it is. Not that they would let me help!. (Doreen in Canada and America you call them Hutches.)
I'm really pleased with it and couldn't wait to try my jugs out on it.
The antique shelves that were there is being moved to the left, in between the next lot of down beams. You can see them resting up against the window alcove at the moment.
The ABC's of life plaque hangs over the window.

And The Winner Is.....

Firstly, Thank you to everyone for all your Birthday Wishes and thank you for entering the Give Away.
I must apologise for being late with the draw, but I blame Nikki for keeping me on the phone chatting. I told her that I was going to tell you all. LOL... And no I didn't tell her who'd won, I said she'd have to wait like the rest of you..
Now as you can see quite a few of you entered, although not as many as I expected. Your names were all put on paper, then cut up and put in my new posh jar, given a quick stir and then one was pulled.

And the winner was Doreen from Doreen's Miniatures & Memories. I have already emailed Doreen to let her know she is the winner.
Many congratulations Doreen, I hope you like the prize. It is a Bone China Bathroom Set, made by Robert Mack. Robert used to work at Royal Doulton and now makes Miniatures and the most wonderful China Birds.
The picture at the bottom is of the full set that will be winging its way to you as soon as you email me your address...
